- Overview
Virginia Commonwealth, VCU, is a top-50 public research university. We’re also home to one of the top-ranked public graduate schools. We’re a top destination for innovation, ranked
number 20 on US News Report.
VCU is in Richmond, Virginia, 2 hours from DC, with big-city amenities, historic neighborhoods, raging rapids, dynamic startups, Fortune 500 companies, a flourishing art scene, and too many restaurants to count. We are the uncommon because we do things others can’t. More than $400 million in research funding allows for unlimited thinking and innovation. VCU has over 240 majors at the bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels with 66+ being STEM. We have a faculty-to-student ratio of 16:1, and we believe every undergrad should be a researcher. 90% of first-year students get at least a $10,000 scholarship. Our graduates are unstoppable with a strong graduate school or job placement.
VCU has three campuses; two main campuses are located a mile away from each other,
Richmond. The Monroe Park Campus is home to most non-medical programs, including art,
business, engineering, and other majors. Our five health sciences schools and top-rated medical centers, including two hospitals, are on our medical campus, and the third
campus in Qatar.
